The Spaniard was a difference-maker for Chelsea last season upon arriving from Barcelona. He topped the Premier League assist charts with 18 – seven more than any other player in the division.
Fabregas remains a pass-master and the team’s creative hub, but he is too reckless tactically and does not have the defensive awareness to play in a two-man midfield against the country’s best teams. This was very evident in the comprehensive loss to City as Nemanja Matic was isolated in the middle of the park.
