The England international is set to enter the final year of his contract at the end go the season, with the Gunners still yet to offer him an extension.
Chelsea had initially expressed an interest in Walcott before she signed his latest extension three years ago. He eventually opted to stay at the Emirates, but still has a number of admirers across town at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are aware that they need to boost their number of home grown players following the recent departures of Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole, and the signing of Walcott would allow them to boost their quota with some significant quality.
Though a new deal is yet to be offered, Arsenal are reluctant to let the situation linger any longer than it needs to. Walcott himself has stated a desire to stay in north London, but the more time that passes without a new offer being put on the table could see him decide to look elsewhere.
