Everton’s head of recruitment Ian Atkins has told Talksport that Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku wants a permanent move to Goodison Park this summer…
The 21-year old impressed on loan for the Toffees last season, netting 16 goals in 33 games in all competitions for them, but his performances do not seem to have convinced Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho of his value to the Blues. Atkins was quoted saying recently, “Romelu had a terrific season for Everton last year and I know everyone at the football club wants to see him back. Hopefully things can be sorted out, I think he’s quite settled in his mind that he wants to come to Everton, and hopefully he’ll be pulling on our blue shirt again next term.”
There is heavy interest in landing the former Anderlecht star with the likes of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Wolfsburg all said to be tracking the youngster. Chelsea could be willing to cash in Lukaku’s popularity before it goes cold, and Everton are said to be keen on striking an £18 million deal for the Belgian international.
Lukaku has always talked up his future for a Champions League outfit though, but even he probably realizes that last season’s Champions League contenders Everton are about as close as he could get to playing in Europe’s elite competition this season.
