It turns out that Faiq Jefri Bolkiah, one of the rising stars on Chelsea’s youth squad, is actually the nephew of the Sultan of Brunei.
The 17-year-old Bolkiah, nephew of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, is a first-year academy player with the Chelsea Blues U-18s, according to Mail Online. Bolkiah believes that Chelsea will be the stars of both the youth leagues and senior leagues for years to come.
“The way Chelsea work as a football club sets a bar for them to go for success in both the senior and youth sides,” Bolkiah told FourFourTwo. “I’m always learning about how to improve my game at club, whether it’s from my academy coaches or first-team manager Jose Mourinho.
“When our youth team played against the senior team in one instance, Jose pointed out to me that sometimes I was in the wrong position at the wrong time, and how I could improve that.”
It was an incredible year for Chelsea, capturing the Premier League Championship as well as the Capital One Cup, while the Chelsea youth captured the FA Youth Cup and the UEFA Youth League double.
