Wallace, 19-year-old Brazilian stopper, is set to join Italian giants for the year…
Chelsea will let their 19-year-old wonderkid defender Wallace play on loan at Italian giants Inter Milan for the season, reports Italian publication Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The Brazilian stopper was snapped up in January from Fluminense at the start of the year, and was allowed to stay in South America for the second half of the season to continue his development.
Despite his age, he has already won the Brazilian league championship, the Rio State League and the Guanabara Cup, and has been involved in a number of pre-season appearances for the West-Londoners this summer.
Chelsea have high hopes for the right-back, and have not allowed Inter an ‘option to buy’ at the end of the loan spell. Wallace has been capped at various Brazilian age levels, and his dynamic style up the right flank has drawn comparisons to legendary fullbacks Cafu and Dani Alves.
At Chelsea however, he would face stiff competition for game time from Spanish international Cesar Azpilicueta, and Serbian versatile defender Branislav Ivanovic. His development might stagnate as a result of the large Stamford Bridge squad, so returning manager Jose Mourinho is happy for Wallace to head to Inter for the term.
