Ba could be about to make a return to Newcastle.
Despite having scored some vital goals for Chelsea in recent weeks, Demba Ba could make a return to his former side Newcastle United this summer, reports the Newcastle Chronicle.
Ba joined the Blues from Newcastle in January 2013 for a £7m fee, but since then has managed just 23 starts in all competitions.
The Senegal international has scored 15 goals during that time, which have included vital strikes against Liverpool and Swansea City in the Premier League and the goal which sent the west Londoners through to the Champions League semi-finals at the expense of Paris Saint-Germain.
Despite that Jose Mourinho wants to offload the 28-year-old in the summer as the Portuguese coach aims to close in on Atletico Madrid top-scorer Diego Costa.
Therefore Ba will be offered up to a number of teams of which the Magpies are thought to be one – especially due to their connections with the striker.
The African spent 18 months at St James’ Park and scored 29 goals in 58 games and with Loic Remy unlikely to extend his loan stay on Tyneside beyond this season, a new forward is a necessity.
Ba’s national teammate Papiss Cisse has recently suffered an injury to his kneecap as well, meaning the absence of both Cisse and Remy will leave Alan Pardew’s men light upfront.
It’s thought the star of Stamford Bridge would probably cost around £7m again, as the 2010 English champions want to recoup their outlay on the attacker.
