Remy was spotted in the crowd watching the Gunners at the Emirates last season, sparking rumours that he would be on his way to north London once his loan spell at Newcastle came to an end.
However, that appearance turned out to be innocent, according to to the man himself, as he was invited by former Gunner Bacary Sagna.
Wenger apparently made a dramatic last minute bid for the France international, though Remy insists that a deal to take him to the club was never close.
“Arsenal, I think they were talking with my agent a few years ago but they never wanted to sign me really because if they wanted they would have signed me a long time ago.
“When Chelsea came it was very good. They told me I can really enjoy being in this team, I can win titles.
“I spoke to the manager in Chelsea and he really wanted to sign me. I never spoke, for example with Wenger.
“He never took his phone and called me so the choice was quick.”
