The Blues boss has been dishing out the compliments and advice.
Tottenham Hotspur have received some rare praise from Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho for the north London side’s success in the transfer market.
Spurs signed seven new players for a combined total in excess of £105m and Mourinho believes the club are the ‘champions’ of the window.
“Tottenham are the champions of the window by a distance, by a distance,” the 50-year-old was quoted by the Mirror.
‘”They bought six, seven, eight players, international players for their countries, big countries, almost all of them.
‘”Tottenham were the kings of the transfer window. They have a fantastic squad.”
Tottenham broke their club record transfer fee three times over the summer, first by paying Corinthians £17m for Paulinho, then £26m for Valencia striker Roberto Soldado and finally sanctioning £30m for Erik Lamela of AS Roma.
However, the Blues didn’t make themselves very popular with the Lily Whites when after Anzhi Makhachkala winger Willian had completed a medical at White Hart Lane, Mourinho’s men swooped in and signed the Brazilian at the 11th hour.
The Portuguese maestro hasn’t stopped at praising Premier League rivals however and has vowed to help new FA chairman Greg Dyke improve the national game in England.
“If the right people think my experience of abroad, of managing in important leagues and countries, knowing English football as well as I do, if they think I can give contribution to the internal debate to end in the solution we all want, I’m ready for that. But not a public debate. I’m not ready for that,” the former Real Madrid coach continued.
