The Blues manager has contacted AVB.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that the boss contacted Andre Villas-Boas after the 36-year-old was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur.
Villas-Boas was finally given the boot by Spurs following an embarrassing 0-5 home defeat to Liverpool last Sunday.
Mourinho and the ex-Tottenham coach have not been on good times for some time, but the 50-year-old has tried to rebuild some bridges after AVB was given the push.
“I spoke with Andre in the last six months; I spoke with him three times,” the Portuguese maestro was quoted by the Belfast Telegraph.
“One in that manager’s meeting [at the start of the season], one when we played against them and another one a couple of days ago.
“I didn’t speak about it [the sacking]. Just: ‘Come on. The world didn’t finish. Let’s go. Tomorrow’s another day and another job will come. So, happy Christmas’.”
It appears that the festive period has softened Mourinho somewhat and that the two coaches can start rekindling a friendship that started back in Portugal.
The Blues have been on a good run since the two-time Premier League winner returned as manager and the west London club have a chance to go top of the division with a triumph over Arsenal on Monday.
The side have not won the English title since 2010, but are hoping that the experience of Mourinho in the top tier can help guide them to victory once more.
