The IPL is reaching its long awaited climax, and we could be in for a cracker at the Wankhede Stadium as the Chennai Super Kings and the Kings XI Punjab will battle it out for a place in the final.
Although Punjab’s rampant charge was halted somewhat by the Kolkata Knight Riders in Qualifier 1, they will be hoping to get back to their usual best when they play on a batting friendly wicket in Mumbai.
The true nature of the pitch means that Kings XI’s ultra-explosive batting unit will probably have a slight edge going into the game, but they will be up against the most consistent IPL side across all seasons in Chennai – who have been at this knockout stage more or less every year.
The Super Kings also have the batting power to match Punjab shot for shot, but one reckons that the team chasing could have a big advantage in the game.
The bowling units of both the sides are also well matched, barring the fact that Chennai have a couple of established world-class spinners in Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja as opposed to their opponents’ rookie slow bowling attack comprising of Karanveer Singh, Akshar Patel and Shivam Sharma.
This is a virtual semi-final with the winner going on to play the final against KKR in Bangalore on Sunday.
