CSK are looking to make it seven wins in a row as they bid for their third IPL title.
After a shaky start to the 2013 IPL Chennai Super Kings are now staring at their seventh straight victory against Kings XI Punjab after a real turn in form.
The Super Kings have left all in their wake in recent matches as they exacted revenge on defeat in the 2012 final to Kolkata Knight Riders by recording back-to-back wins against them.
Captain MS Dhoni has led the charge and has been leading by example as the Indian skipper has edged his side to a couple of dramatic victories with his stylish batting displays.
Dhoni’s other chief provider at the crease has been Australian veteran Mike Hussey, who’s 450 runs in Chennai’s opeing 10 matches has seen the franchise rise to the top and Hussey rank second in the Orange Cap standings for most runs.
Kings XI’s form has been less consistent, losing five of their first nine games in the competition and failing to achieve any real run of victories.
The team decided to drop captain Adam Gilchrist for their previous match at Mumbai Indians, but the tactic didn’t work as Punjab fell to a seven wicket defeat.
Gilchrist was taken out of the side after failing to impress with the bat all year, although Kings XI appear to have improved in that area in recent fixtures as David Hussey, Shaun Marsh and David Miller are all starting to find form.
The batsmen will have to watch out for CSK’s all-rounder Dwayne Bravo however, as the West Indian has been lethal with the ball in 2013 and is tied for the Purple Cap for most wickets with 16 scalps.
