The Chennai Super Kings will have the tough task of facing a rejuvenated Mumbai Indians side in a knockout tie at the Brabourne Stadium on Wednesday night. The losing side will have to pack their bags and head home while the winner will have to play the loser of the tie between Punjab and Kolkata to decide the second finalist in the tournament.
While Chennai have been the more consistent of the two sides over the course of the tournament, defending champions Mumbai have been given a fresh lease of life following their unbelievable chase against Rajasthan on Sunday, and will fancy their chances of going all the way once again, particularly with both their knockout games prior to the final to be played in Mumbai.
Mumbai’s batting unit pulled off the near impossible against Rajasthan to sneak into the play-offs, but they will be up against a group of well oiled, thorough professionals led by the charismatic MS Dhoni in this game. Chennai too have the temperament for the big games, which should make it an even mental battle.
On balance the teams are hard to separate as both have match winners and are also well balanced in all departments, which should make for a cracking contest.
