Chicago Bears DE Lamarr Houston ruptured an ACL while celebrating a sack of Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo during the fourth quarter of the club’s 51-23 loss to New England on Sunday, according to Bears general manager Phil Emery.
Emery said Houston faces a six- to eight-month rehabilitation.
“I have to get an MRI in the morning, hopefully everything is good, but we’ll see tomorrow,” Houston said Sunday. “I probably shouldn’t have celebrated while they were blowing us out, but it happens… Landed wrong, tried to hop up, didn’t feel right, so we’ll see what happens tomorrow.”
“He’s got a knee, and I’m very disappointed for him,” Bears head coach Marc Trestman said Sunday. “I’m very disappointed for Lamarr.”
The celebration and subsequent injury was reminiscent of an injury suffered by Detroit Lions LB Stephen Tulloch, who tore his ACL earlier in the season while celebrating.
