The Chicago Bears defeated the New York Jets on Monday Night Football thanks in large part to two TDs scored in the first 5 minutes of the game.
On the second play of the game, Geno Smith threw a pick-6 to Bears Safety Ryan Mundy, which put the game at 7-0 Bears only :30 into the game. After stopping a Bears drive, Jets PR Jalen Saunders muffed a punt that was recovered by the Bears – and a short drive later TE Martellus Bennett scored for the Bears again, giving them a 14-0 lead.
The Jets were able to rally in the second quarter to cut the lead to 17-13, but in the 4th quarter Geno Smith threw his 2nd INT of the day – his league-leading 4th of the season – which stalled a potential TD drive.
QB Jay Cutler played efficiently for the Bears, finding Bennett twice in the endzone and finishing the day with 225 yards and a 94.7 passer rating.
QB Geno Smith moved the football well, accounting for 316 yards and a TD, but his two INTs ultimately cost the Jets the game.
