The Chicago Bears signed free-agent wide receiver Santonio Holmes in an effort to add to their receiving depth.
The Chicago Bears were in need of some depth at wide receiver, so they turned to Santonio Holmes, who is looking to revive his career. The length and financial terms of the contract have not been revealed yet.
The Bears lost Marquess Wilson to a clavicle injury after he was expected to step up and take the No. 3 role, but now Holmes will be counted on to prove he still has plenty of juice left in the tank.
The Super Bowl 43 MVP will play in a much more prolific offense than he did with the New York Jets since head coach Marc Trestman has proven to be an offensive genius, and he will benefit from the presence of Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery.
Holmes caught 23 passes for 456 yards and a touchdown for the Jets and missed the majority of the 2012 season with a Lisfranc injury.
The downgrade at quarterback from Ben Roethlisberger and his legal troubles clearly affected his performance in addition to his injuries.
