The Jacksonville Jaguars will play their next preseason game against the Chicago Bears, and quarterback Blake Bortles will look to solidify his worth as the starter.
The Jacksonville Jaguars received a pleasant surprise in their preseason opener when rookie quarterback Blake Bortles put together a fantastic debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The third overall pick threw for 117 yards on 7-of-11 passing, and he outplayed Chad Henne by a wide margin.
Running back Toby Gerhart is expected to play in their Thursday preseason game against the Chicago Bears after recovering from a hip flexor injury.
Wide receiver Marqise Lee will also be a player to watch since he failed to record a single catch despite receiving a golden opportunity, and head coach Gus Bradley has not been pleased with him lately.
Meanwhile, the Bears picked up right where they left off on offense. Jimmy Clausen looked fantastic as a backup as he led the Bears to a comeback victory while throwing two touchdown passes.
Running back Ka’Deem Carey received 10 carries in the previous game, but he only rushed for 23 yards. He will look to build on his debut and cement himself as the Bears’ No. 2 running back.
Tight end Martellus Bennett and defensive end Jared Allen will make their preseason debuts. Bennett is returning from a suspension for fighting with cornerback Kyle Fuller, and Allen is returning from seeing the birth of his daughter.
