The Chicago Bears will face the Philadelphia Eagles in their preseason opener, and they will have the opportunity to showcase their newly revamped defense.
Defensive ends Jared Allen, Lamarr Houston and Willie Young are expected to upgrade an abysmal run defense. There are also two rookie defensive tackles in Ego Ferguson and Will Sutton that will be worth keeping an eye on. Rookie cornerback Kyle Fuller will also see action on the field for the first time.
On offense, rookie running back Ka’Deem Carey should receive plenty of carries with the second team.
The Eagles will have a new quarterback in Mark Sanchez looking to win the No. 2 job over Matt Barkley. They will see the majority of the game since Nick Foles will likely leave after the first quarter.
Other key players to watch will be Marcus Smith, Jordan Matthews and Josh Huff. Matthews and Huff will round out a receiving corps that is looking to adjust to life without DeSean Jackson. Smith will not see the field right away with Connor Barwin and Trent Cole at outside linebacker, but he will be worth watching.
Running back Darren Sproles will also receive plenty of carries after LeSean McCoy leaves the game.
