Rose had pulled up in practice complaining of knee pain and a subsequent MRI scan confirmed that he would indeed need to go under the knife.
However, the Bulls have been reluctant to put a return date on Rose, claiming that a schedule will only become clear once the procedure has been complete.
Rose has been putting in a lot of work into his rehab over the past two-and-a-half years, and the news has come as a blow, with the injury mirroring the same problem he picked up in 2013.
He then missed the entirety of the following campaign, before making a comeback for just ten games and then having to sit out again.
