Tim Sherwood, who has dramatically turned around the feeling at the club from one of abject despair to one of hope, masterminded a surprise 2-1 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final this weekend.
Current owner Randy Lerner has been looking to sell the club since the beginning of the season, but has so far struggled to find a buyer, but now may be able to offload the club after their turn in the showpiece final.
The Chinese group are determined to get their hands on a Premier League club, and have even held talks with near neighbours West Bromwich Albion just in case the deal with Villa hits the rocks.
Representatives from the consortium are already in England to undergo their due diligence, but any deal would be dependent on Villa avoiding the drop to the Championship.
Lerner is now looking for around £150million to vacate his position.
