Benteke has been heavily linked with a move away from Villa Park with a number of clubs reportedly considering matching his £32.5m release clause.
Liverpool are believed to be desperate to sign the Belgian international following its disappointing season, however the 24-year-old hinted that he could stick around for yet another season at Aston Villa.
“When you play in a final, you come with a lot of hope, so to lose like this is a big disappointment,” Beneteke is quoted as saying by The Mirror.
“Arsenal were better than us. We need to realise the truth, and it’s a sad day for the players and fans.
“I would like to thank the fans for their support throughout the season because we had some hard times.
“If you want to take something positive, it’s the fact we are safe. Now we can look forward to try to build something strong.”
Benteke’s 15 goals in all competitions helped steer Villa clear of relegation and reach last weekend’s FA Cup final.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to bolster his attack following his side’s sixth-placed finish this season, and it is understood Beneteke remains number one of the Reds’ wishlist.
However, Benteke’s recent comments will provide some hope to Villa boss Tim Sherwood who is understandably desperate to keep hold of his star man.
