Christian Benteke will wear the No.9 shirt for Liverpool next season.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Belgium international is set to become the Reds’ new No.9 with Rickie Lambert set to leave Anfield in the coming days.
The report states that the Merseyside heavyweights opted to hold off unveiling the striker’s squad number, as they were awaiting confirmation on Lambert’s exit.
Lambert has a medical scheduled with West Bromwich Albion and a £3m transfer fee is said to have been agreed – with confirmation of the deal therefore expected within the next few days.
