Eriksen will only leave Ajax for a club that’s bigger ‘in every way’.
Christian Eriksen has not received any offers for his signature, and would only move to an enormous club anyway, reports Sky Sports.
In regards to the reported interest of both Liverpool and Tottenham, Eriksen told Voetbal International,”I do not know more about this than you. If I leave, I have to go to a club that is bigger than Ajax in every way.
“But no clubs like that have shown interest yet. I’ve read a lot about it, but heard nothing from the club.”
The comments indicate that the kind of club the Danish 21-year-old would be interested in moving to have not yet made an offer for his services.
Ajax manager Frank De Boer said yesterday that Eriksen was free to join Liverpool after their apparent interest, but Eriksen perhaps has ambitions to move to a real European superpower – which neither Spurs or Liverpool can currently claim to be.
Liverpool and Tottenham are without Champions League football next season, and the Reds are not even playing in the Europa League. Ajax will be competing in Europe’s premier competition, and Eriksen could stay at the club if no Champions League sides come in for his services.
The two English sides are looking to add an attacking-midfielder to their squads, and have both been linked with young Brazilian Bernard. The pint-sized 20-year-old though has indicated he may stay with Atletico Mineiro for another season.
After missing out on Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and if neither Bernard or Eriksen are available, the clubs could turn to Xherdan Shaqiri from Bayern Munich. Liverpool are set to make a bid for the 21-year-old who faces huge competition for places at Bayern Munich, and the player also fits the profile of the kind of young technical footballer Andre Villas Boas wants at Tottenham.
