Young Dane will make a final decision about his future this summer.
Liverpool have been rocked by the news that coveted Ajax midfield player Christian Eriksen would rather join mega-rich Premier League outfit Manchester City at the end of the season than move to Anfield, says the Daily Star.
The Denmark international is considered to be one of the brightest prospects in European football at present and having told the Eredivisie champions that he is not willing to put pen to paper on a new contract to remain at the Amsterdam ArenA beyond the expiration of his present deal in May 2014, it is expected that the Dutch giants will sell the player this summer rather than risk him for free next year.
However, instead of moving to Merseyside as has been rumoured of late, the 21-year-old has set his heart on joining City next season, which will come as a massive blow to Reds head coach Brendan Rodgers.
And if Eriksen does end up at Eastlands this summer, he is not expected to cost City more than £15 million due to the fact that he only has one more year left to run on his current deal.
