The Cincinnati Bengals signed quarterback Tyler Wilson to replace the injured Jason Campbell.
Quarterback Tyler Wilson, who was waived by the Tennessee Titans, was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals.
Jason Campbell, who has been the second-string quarterback so far, has a severe bruise on his throwing arm. This is not a serious injury, but Wilson will take his place for the time being.
It is highly doubtful that the former Oakland Raider will stick around on the Bengals’ roster since they already have starter Andy Dalton and two superior backups on the roster. Matt Scott shined in the last preseason game with two passing touchdowns and 68 rushing yards.
Wilson, meanwhile, reportedly played abysmally in the Titans’ training camp. This will give him an opportunity to draw attention to himself as a viable backup on another roster though.
Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis is optimistic that Campbell will return soon. “We’ll see how Jason is. Jason will rest (Saturday). He should be fine to get back to work next week, but we will just bring a quarterback … so we don’t have to rush him if he’s still sore,” Lewis told NFL.com.
