The New England Patriots are struggling and under pressure, but Tom Brady will look to lead them back to winning ways against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Patriots (2-2) have been led to three championships under the Brady-Bill Belichick tandem, but with the last coming back in 2004, questions are now beginning to be asked as to whether or not the veteran quarterback is nearing the end.
He’s completing a career-worst 59.1 percent of his passes after going 14-of-23 for 159 yards with two interceptions and lost a fumble in Monday’s heavy 41-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Belichick is set to keep faith in his experienced signal-caller, but as they rank 29th in total offense in the league, it isn’t likely to get much easier when they face the Bengals who have allowed a league-low 11.0 points per game and are well rested after their bye week.
Quarterback Andy Dalton and running back Giovani Bernard are working well and the Bengals are currently 3-0 to start the season as many pick them out as the most impressive team through the first few games of the season so far.
Whether or not they are able to maintain that remains to be seen, but after wins over the Ravens and Falcons, they believe that they can compete with the best in the NFL and a win in New England would undoubtedly give further credence to that claim.
Nevertheless, the Patriots have won 10 consecutive games at home, including in the playoffs, and they will hope that home comforts will give them the added boost they need to turn things around.
Another loss may well be disastrous for the Patriots, but a win would certainly silence the doubts surrounding Brady for at least a week.
