Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green left Wednesday’s practice after aggravating his toe injury, and this time he was not so fortunate.
The last time Green injured his toe, he left Week 2’s game but returned the next week and was able to use the bye week to heal up. However, his long-term prospects in healing are looking much more bleak this time.
The Bengals receiver has been all but ruled out for Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers, and there’s a chance that the Bengals may choose to sit him out for multiple weeks.
Mohamed Sanu is expected to receive the majority of the targets in the passing game since Marvin Jones is still healing from a foot injury that kept him out for the first several weeks of the season.
Here is a tweet from NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport confirming Green’s status.
After meeting with his foot doctor this morning, #Bengals WR AJ Green is not expected to play this Sunday, source says.
