Late win sees Magpies jump up the table.
Newcastle United head coach Alan Pardew has lavished huge praise on front man Papiss Cisse after the Senegal international netted a last-minute winner to see off the challenge of a stubborn Fulham at St James’ Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Magpies appeared to be heading for yet another frustrating day in front of goal against the West London outfit, before their in-form attacker volleyed home right at the death to hand Pardew and Co a fully-deserved three points.
And that win has now lifted the North-East giants up to the heady heights of 13th place in the top-flight standings, a whole six points from the relegation zoned with just six matches of the season left to play.
“No money can buy how important that is to us as a football club,” Pardew said in his post-match press conference.
“It was a fabulous goal and goes to show a team who won’t give in and will battle to the end. I said to the team we just need to find a way and we did.”
