No. 25 Minnesota is hoping to put a regular-season finale loss behind them as they take on No. 16 Missouri in the Citrus Bowl.
They lost, 34-24, to Wisconsin as quarterback Mitch Leidner was held to 95 yards on 5-of-18 passing. He was able to add 54 rushing yards and two touchdowns while running back David Cobb rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown.
Tight end Maxx Williams will be another key player on offense for the Gophers. Missouri will keep an eye on him in the red zone as he has caught seven touchdown passes with 471 yards
Meanwhile, the Tigers are coming off a 42-13 loss in the SEC Championship against Alabama. Wide receiver Jimmie Hunt caught six passes for 169 yards in this game, but the offense sputtered as a whole against a dominant Crimson Tide defense.
Quarterback Maty Mauk will look to bounce back after a forgettable performance, and the Gophers present a solid defense that ranks 32nd in the nation with 23.4 points allowed per game.
However, they have allowed at least 24 points in each of their last three games. The Tigers have not always been great on offense, but they have the weapons to take down the Gophers defense in Mauk and running back Russell Hansbrough.
Prediction: Missouri 27, Minnesota 21
