Browns general manager Ray Farmer has since admitted to being responsible for this scandal.
Head coach Mike Pettine told him he was disappointed in him texting to the sidelines during games.
“I would first like to extend an apology to the Cleveland Brown fans. I know there’s gonna be a lot of questions, a lot of inquiry about texting and Text Gate or whatever the new term is. So everybody hears it from my mouth: It was me,” Farmer said to NFL.com.
Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan had left the Browns after one season for the Atlanta Falcons, and it has been rumored that he left due to the texting scandal.
The Browns will likely lose a draft pick or receive a hefty fine due to their rule breaking.
