Manziel may get a chance to throw to troubled WR Josh Gordon after all.
In an interview with the Akron Beacon Journal, Browns Head Coach Mike Pettine stated that the team has no intentions of cutting troubled All-Pro receiver Josh Gordon.
Gordon is currently facing a season-long suspension for failing his 2nd drug test since joining the team in 2012. On July 5, 2014, Gordon was arrested for drunk driving in Raleigh, North Carolina and may further discipline for violating league conduct policies.
“No, we’re firm… Josh is a Cleveland Brown,” Pettine said. “We want to do what’s best for him. We have a player that potentially needs help. Whether it’s him or whether it’s anybody else that wears the uniform, if we can help, we’ll help. We want to make our decisions always, what’s best for the player, and you try to marry it with what’s best for the team… We’re going to wait and see what happens and then act accordingly.”
Gordon set numerous franchise and NFL receiving records while leading the league in receiving yards in 2013. He was named First Team All-Pro and was voted to the Pro Bowl.
