Browns legend Jim Brown, considered by many to be the greatest player in NFL history, commands the respect of all who listen.
Hall of Fame RB Jim Brown spoke to the Cleveland media about troubled WR Josh Gordon and his impending suspension for failing a 2nd drug test. He told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that “Gordon) has to get his life together.”
“We have to support him and educate him,” the Browns legend said on Tuesday. “You can only do that though leadership in player engagement.”
Gordon, who led the league in receiving yards en route to a Pro Bowl and First Team All-Pro selection, is currently facing a year-long suspension for failing a drug test for marijuana. He may also be subject to discipline by the league for a DUI he received in July.
“It’s about two levels: We hope he can get his life together in the right way and as a football player we hope like hell he can play (again),” Brown said. “It’s definitely No. 1 first. As a human being, he’s got to get his life together.”
Gordon is currently undergoing an appeal for his suspension and is expected to get the verdict sometime in the next few weeks.
