Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel admitted that he still has more to learn as a quarterback before he is ready to start the regular season opener.
Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has played in one preseason game so far, and he played reasonably well and fueled the flames enough for fans who feel he should start for the Browns in Week 1.
However, the quarterback himself admitted that his lack of experience means he is not ready to play the opener just yet. “I don’t think I’m ready for Pittsburgh right now. I’ve only played one game. The more and more you see it, the more you get familiar with it, I think the better it’ll be,” Manziel said to NFL.com.
However, Manziel believes he will be ready to start against the Steelers if he ultimately wins the starting quarterback job over Brian Hoyer, but he realizes that he still has a lot to learn to prove to head coach Mike Pettine that he can be the franchise’s signal caller.
The former Heisman Trophy winner will have another opportunity to prove himself Monday against the Washington Redskins.
