The Cleveland Browns’ locker room is now split 50-50 on who their starting quarterback should be, but Johnny Manziel is now ahead of Brian Hoyer in the competition.
The starting quarterback race for the Cleveland Browns continues to heat up between Brian Hoyer and Johnny Manziel.
The race is so close that the Browns’ locker room is now reportedly split 50-50 on who should win the starting job. Initially, Brian Hoyer was labeled the favorite to start before the third preseason game.
Manziel showed a lot of promise in his preseason debut with the Browns. He completed 7-of-11 of his passes for 63 yards, and he added another 27 yards on the ground.
This may be why reports are now saying that Manziel is ahead in the competition. Hoyer did not do anything to distance himself from the former Heisman winner in the Browns’ preseason game.
Although he threw for 92 yards, he made some inaccurate throws, as demonstrated by his 6-for-14 passing.
Manziel still has more to do to solidify the starting quarterback job, but he is on the right track and has already shown the high upside he possesses.
