The Cleveland Browns will not be making the playoffs after looking like a contender in the middle of the season, and the quarterback position continues to be an area of struggle.
Rookie Johnny Manziel had a flop of a debut and eventually hurt his hamstring, which caused the Browns to place him on injured reserve.
Brian Hoyer will also be out for Week 17 with a shoulder injury, so the Browns are activating undrafted rookie Connor Shaw from the practice squad.
The former South Carolina quarterback showed promise in the preseason, and he will now have his first opportunity to show whether he can be a starting quarterback in the NFL.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network announced the Browns’ intention to start Shaw on Twitter.
With Brian Hoyer not practicing today, #Browns plan on starting Connor Shaw. So, Chase Daniel, Shaw, Ryan Lindley, Case Keenum #Week17
