Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has been suspended for the entire season for failing a drug test after already failing one that caused him to receive a two-game suspension in 2013.
The troubled wide receiver spoke with the media in Cleveland for the first time since April, and he denied claims that he has a drug problem. “Definitely not. In this case I was exposed to it from second-hand and prior to I’ve been drug-free and been staying that way,” Gordon said to The Chronicle-Telegram.
The wide receiver also claimed that he had been tested 70 times before his first positive test came up. Gordon’s situation became even more dire in July when he was arrested for a DWI, after which he checked himself into rehab.
After he is done serving his suspension, the Browns offense will instantly receive a giant boost since he was arguably the best receiver in the NFL in 2013.
Gordon finished with 1,646 yards and nine touchdown catches in 14 games, and he is expected to possibly have his suspension reduced to eight games. However, there have been no reports stating that he will be able to avoid a season-long suspension.
