In what is rapidly becoming a series to remember, these two bitter rivals have several in-game key match-ups happening that will again play a crucial role in the outcome of Game 4.
Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving was seemingly bothered by a foot problem last time out as he struggled with just 11 points and no assists, which in turn saw Rose win the battle with a sensational 30-point performance capped off by that magical buzzer-beater.
That should give the Bulls the lift they need to protect home-court on Sunday and take a commanding 3-1 series lead, but when LeBron James is involved, nothing is given.
The two-time NBA champion responded like everyone thought he would in Game 2 to tie the series, and it would come as no surprise if he came out aggressive again on Sunday and did the same.
However, he will be met by the NBA’s Most Improved Player for 2015 in Jimmy Butler, who had another impressive performance on both ends of the court on Friday night.
Butler is becoming a real force offensively while continuing to be Chicago’s premier defender, and if he can at least limit James to a bad shooting performance again, then it gives the Bulls a great opportunity to win.
It is also worth keeping an eye on LeBron’s war of words with center Joakim Noah, as things threatened to boil over last time out as both were hit with technicals after getting into it following a James dunk.
Nevertheless, the absence of Pau Gasol could be costly for Chicago as he is questionable with a hamstring strain, but with Taj Gibson and Nikola Mirotic ready to step in, they will be confident of protecting their court.
Prediction: The early start and prime-time slot will get the Bulls ready to deliver another blow to the Cavs’ championship hopes.
