The Wisconsin Badgers are looking to assert their dominance over the Western Illinois Leathernecks after a shocking loss to LSU that involved blowing a 17-point lead.
No. 18 Wisconsin endured a heartbreaking loss to No. 12 LSU as they blew a 24-7 lead to lose the game, 28-24. This was largely due to a strained hip flexor injury to running back Melvin Gordon.
Quarterback Tanner McEvoy failed to move the chains as he passed for only 50 yards and threw two interceptions. Gordon had 140 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries before being taken out of the game.
The Badgers will look to recover in their next game against Western Illinois.
The Leathernecks had a smooth season opener as they beat Valparaiso, 45-6. Quarterback Trenton Norvell completed 20-of-28 of his passes for 320 yards and four touchdowns, and running back J.C. Baker ran for 137 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.
Although they played quality defense on Valpairaso, they will have to deal with Gordon, who is expected to return healthy. Even McEvoy will have an easy time against an FCS football program.
The Badgers will also be looking to make a statement after giving away their game against LSU. All signs are pointing to a blowout.
Prediction: Wisconsin 52, Western Illinois 7
