The Washington Redskins are hurting at quarterback since starter Robert Griffin III is continuing to sit out with a dislocated ankle, but he is on track to return soon.
Backup Kirk Cousins struggled in Griffin’s absence, and Redskins head coach Jay Gruden finally had enough of his poor play and benched him for Colt McCoy, who helped lead the Redskins to a win over the Tennessee Titans.
Gruden announced that McCoy will be the starter unless Griffin is fully healthy. This is still a long shot, so Redskins fans can count on seeing McCoy make his first start in a Redskins uniform.
Here is a tweet from the official Sports Illustrated Twitter account releasing Gruden’s decision.
