Tonight Brazil and Uruguay, two titans of South American football, clash in the Confederations Cup semi-final in what should be an action-packed match.
The Samba boys made it through the group stages in style, winning all three matches including an impressive 4-2 victory over Italy to top the group. The hosts have had the second fewest number of shots in the tournament, with 28, only behind Tahiti who have had 14, but Brazil have still amassed nine goals – thanks in no small part to Barcelona £50m new boy Neymar.
The Selecao triumphed over Mexico and Japan and have only conceded two goals in the tournament so far. Neymar, 21, has caused quite a stir, scoring and being named man of the match in every game so far, and thoroughly impressing with his skills and attacking play.
Uruguay came second in their group behind reigning World Cup champions Spain. La Celeste forward Luis Suarez has found the net three times so far, and is the spearhead of Uruguay’s attack along with Chelsea target Edinson Cavani and former Man United verteran Diego Forlan.
Brazil are unbeaten in six matches against the fellow South Americans, and the last time these sides met Brazil triumphed 4-0.
