Joey Barton has approached Roberto Martinez about signing him for Everton…
QPR’s controversial midfielder Joey Barton has approached Everton boss Roberto Martinez about signing him, and will accept reduced wages to play for the Toffees, reports The Daily Mirror.
The 30-year-old spent last season on loan at Marseilles, and despite doing well, QPR are desperate to offload his reported £70,000-per-week wages. Because of his history of poor discipline and brining the image of his many club’s into disrepute, few teams want to take the risk of bringing him into their squads for the new season.
Barton is a boyhood Everton fan, and would love the chance to play for the Goodison Park side in what will likely be the last move to a Premier League club in his career. The fans though, are almost unanimously against the idea, and have taken to social media to vent their opinion.
It’s unanimous Ouch! Nobody on Everton’s Reddit page wants Joey Barton at their club http://t.co/onG58K7YPp
