Inter and Chelsea target is given hefty asking price by Brazilian club.
Corinthians have revealed that they will accept nothing less than €20m for Brazilian star Paulinho, according to Goal.com.
The 24-year-old has been a target for some major European clubs over the past year, with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain amongst those interested.
However, his current employers have revealed that they will not accept any bids lower than €20m but are clearly welcoming interested parties to make their move to take him to Europe this summer.
The Brazil international revealed last week that he would find it tough to turn down a move to Serie A giants Inter, but it is unclear as to whether the Nerazzurri would be able to afford such a price tag as they begin a rebuilding process under Walter Mazzarri.
“Paulinho has so many clubs interested in him,” Corinthians deputy director Duilio Monteiro Alves told Fox Sports Radio.
“Concrete proposals have not arrived. What we have been reading about is just speculation. I said it would be difficult to retain the player. Corinthians, however, do not need to sell. For this reason we have set an asking price of €20m, he will not be sold for anything less,” he concluded.
Paulinho has become a mainstay in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s Brazil squad, and was part of the Corinthians team which won the Club World Cup last season.
With a strong Brazilian economy, the top sides are no longer desperate to sell their star players, and while Corinthians remain open to the idea of selling, they have made it clear that it will be on their terms.
