19) Manchester City
£177m spent + 73 points = £2,424,658 per point
Pellegrini spent a lot less in his second season at the Etihad as he attempted to defend his Premier League title.
But they have dropped off to suck an extend this season that Chelsea have won the title at a canter, the question now is if this is due to a lack of decent recruitment or Pellegrini’s tactics.
We’ll find out, presumably, if Pellegrini’s head does indeed roll this season as so many suspect.
20) Manchester United
£236.9m spent + 68 points = £3,483,824 per point
It was hardly surprising Man United would top the pile considering their staggering summer outlay to try and get back to the top of English football after a season of mediocrity under David Moyes.
And expect them to be there again next season with a flurry of reports suggesting they’re set for another incredible recruitment drive.
