No. 5 Baylor is looking to prove that they should have been given a chance to compete for a national title in the College Football Playoff.
No. 6 TCU made a statement with a 42-3 blowout victory over No. 9 Ole Miss, so Baylor will aim to make the same sort of statement as they face No. 8 Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl.
The Bears are coming off a 38-27 win against Kansas State while the Spartans defeated Penn State, 34-10.
Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty had a nearly flawless game against Kansas State with 412 yards and a touchdown pass with an interception on 34-of-40 passing.
Wide receiver KD Cannon will be another key player to watch after having a strong freshman season with 833 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
For the Spartans, running back Jeremy Langford will be the key weapon as he has rushed for 1,360 yards and 19 touchdowns.
Quarterback Connor Cook has also been effective for the Spartans this season, and he will have a vulnerable Baylor defense to take advantage of.
Look for the Spartans to run the ball effectively against the Bears and close out their season on a positive note.
Prediction: Michigan State 31, Baylor 24
