Arsenal target says he has been scouted all season by the Gunners and would relish a transfer to the Premier League.
Anzhi Makhachkala midfielder Odil Ahmedov says he is wanted by Arsenal this summer, according to the London Evening Standard.
Ahmedov, who is an international player for Uzbekistan with 47 caps and 7 goals, is a holding player who protects the defence well with good positioning – something that Arsenal have been in need of for quite some time – despite the fine work of Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey in front of the back four in the second half of the season for the Gunners.
25 year-old Ahmedov is more of an orthodox defensive midfielder, with his tackles and interceptions vital to stop opposition attacks and begin those of his own team.
Like seemingly every reported Arsenal target this summer – Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain and Fiorentina star Stevan Jovetic to name but two – Ahmedov is also wanted by Juventus, with fellow Serie A side Genoa also following his progress.
“It is true I have interest from Arsenal – their scouts have watched me in every match this season,” said Ahmedov.
“If I move there, I could be a huge success but there is no bid yet.
“Of course, I am happy at Anzhi, but I’d like to try England or Spain.”
The London Evening Standard suggest a bid of £6 million would be enough to secure his signature.
