Markovic;s switch could be done by the end of the week.
Liverpool are gearing up to make their £20 million signing of Benfica ace midfielder Lazar Markovic by the end of the week with the 20-year old scheduled for a Melwood medical soon, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The Serbian is set to become Kop boss Brendan Rodgers’ fourth signing of the summer, after Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can.
Markovic is very highly rated in Benfica, and can play anywhere behind the lead striker.
Liverpool have kept tabs on the youngster’s progress over the last year and despite lingering interest from Chelsea in the player, they have all but sealed the signing.
The Reds are due to rebuild once again this season as their controversial star Luis Suarez seems set to join Barcelona for a whopping £75 million.
Markovic could be one of the new generation that Rodgers is looking to build at Anfield, and the former Partizan Belgrade man would join an exciting crop of talent at the club that impressed last season.
