Aaron Finch says Australia are comfortable with being tagged as favourites for the upcoming Cricket World Cup.
Australia regained the no.1 spot on the ICC ODI rankings following its 4-1 series win over South Africa and bookmakers have installed the co-hosts as favourites to lift the trophy in March.
“That sits well with us – I don’t think there’s any more pressure or any reason to fear playing with that tag,” Finch is quoted as saying by AAP.
“As soon as you fear failure your judgement gets clouded and you make poor decisions, but we’re going to go out there confident.
“We’re going to go out there and take the game on.”
Finch will open the batting alongside the in-form David Warner when Australia face old foes England at the MCG on February 14.
AUSTRALIA WORLD CUP SQUAD:
Michael Clarke (C), George Bailey (VC), Pat Cummins, Xavier Doherty, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Brad Haddin, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, David Warner, Shane Watson.
