The 28-year-old made his third successive duck against Australia on Saturday, but Moores says his lack of success with the bat does not undermine his role as England captain.
“No, it doesn’t undermine him at all,” Moores is quoted as saying by Wales Online.
“Eoin isn’t a bloke who is going to hide from this: he knows he’s got to perform, he knows that’s his role.
“He’s been through periods like this before where it hasn’t worked and come out the other side.
“In some ways it’s strange he’s had a tough time against Australia as it’s a side he’s done very well against in the past. In the last series he was the stand-out batsman.”
Morgan replaced Alastair Cook as one-day captain in November, and it looked to be an inspired decision after the former Ireland international made an impressive 121 against Australia during the Tri-Series.
Since then however Morgan has made just two runs in five innings, including four ducks.
