England captain Eoin Morgan has heaped praise on all-rounder Moeen Ali following his destructive performance with both ball and bat during his side’s 119-run victory over Scotland on Monday.
Ali smashed an impressive 128 with the bat against the Scots and took two wickets as England got off the mark at the World Cup after two heavy defeats to Australia and New Zealand.
Morgan said England were “privileged” to have Ali at the World Cup.
“I thought that Mo was striking the ball as well as he has done with the bat. But we are very privileged to have him as an all rounder who opens the batting and then puts some real purchase on the ball,” Morgan is quoted as saying by The Express.
“We would definitely never underestimate him as a player we know how good he can be. We are very privileged to have him as an all-round option who opens the batting and then puts some real purchase on the ball when he bowls.”
England face Sri Lanka in a must-win clash in Wellington on Sunday.
