The Black Caps will take an unchanged XI into the sold-out World Cup clash at Eden Park against its arch-nemesis Australia.
Southee, who took incredible figures of 7-33 against England last Friday, was struck in the shoulder by a loose throw from teammate Adam Milne in training on Thursday, but McCullum says the bowler will be ready to go.
“It was just a ball to the shoulder .. he bowled well today and we expect him to play,” McCullum is quoted as saying by AAP.
“We’re going to play the same team as well, so far so good with the injuries.
“The guys have really stood up over the last little while.
“We feel this is the best team to go in with.”
New Zealand face Australia at 1am (GMT) on Saturday.
