According to Mid Day News, Nazir Akter Happy, 19, alleged Hossain raped her and backed away from his promise to marry her.
The allegations rocked the Bangladeshi team before the World Cup and almost prevented Hossain from travelling to Australia and New Zealand before the tournament.
He was arrested and appeared in court, but he was released due to ‘national interest’ after being considered an important player in the Bangladesh side.
Hossain’s 4/34 against England propelled Bangladesh into the World Cup quarter-finals, and now Happy has told local media she intends to drop the charges.
“I’ve forgiven him. I am not going to continue the case against him,” Happy told Channel 24 television.
“I am not going to give any testimony or evidence against (him). And if I don’t carry on with the case, then there is no case.”
Happy’s decision comes just a day after her lawyer Debul Dey said he no longer wanted to represent her as he did not want to put pressure on Hossain.
